Buddha Garden
Buddha Garden or the Buddha Jayanti Park is one of the numerous newly laid gardens of Delhi. This sprawling lush green garden has been beautifully decorated with manicured lawns, streams, sloping terrain and mammoth trees. The Buddha garden is relatively new and has a sense of freshness in every corner. Buddha Jayanti Park was laid to commemorate the 2500th anniversary of Lord Buddha Nirvana.
The Buddha Jayanti Park is situated amidst dense forest of the Southern ridge and covers a significant area of the ridge. This park has special place in Indian religious tradition because a sapling of the Bodhi Tree was brought from Sri Lanka and planted here. Sentiments are attached with this sapling because it is from the same Bodhi tree under which Lord Buddha got enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in Bihar. Later in 261BC, Kunal, the son of emperor Ashoka, took a sapling from that tree and planted it in Sri-Lanka.
The garden is very popular among young couples and can be seen getting cozy in every possible corner of the garden. The park also arranges Buddhism discourse classes on regular basis that are very popular among the foreigners. Game facility is available for children here but pets are strict no-no. Its situated in a lonely area, so try not to venture out in night.
